Forgotten Cookies

2 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup (6oz.) chocolate bits
1/2 Cup chopped nuts (opt)

May prepare ahead; can freeze.

Beat whites of eggs with salt until stiff. Add sugar and beat very stiff. Beat in vanilla and fold in chocolate bits. Drop in mounds by teaspoon on greased cookie sheets. Heat over to 375 degrees. Turn off heat and put cookie sheets in oven immediately. DO NOT open door until next day.
NOTE: For best results make these cookies when humidity is low. Make them before going to bed; no chance of oven door being opened!

Prep time 10 min. Yield: 2-1/2 to 3 dozen
